'Fundamental Rights as Obligation of the State to Environmental Protection': Today the concept of fundamental environmental duties is fully acknowledged in German law and gets more and more international attention. The study traces the development of environmental protection obligations in the case law of the German Constitutional Court, their grounds, their protective scope, their preconditions and effects. A separate chapter is devoted to the judicial enforcement of environmental protection obligations before specialised and constitutional courts.

Maximilian Weinrich studierte Rechtswissenschaften in Würzburg und Groningen (NL) mit dem Schwerpunkt Öffentliches Recht. Einen einjährigen Auslandsaufenthalt in den Niederlanden widmete er der Vertiefung im europäischen und internationalen Umweltrecht. Im Jahr 2016 schloss er die erste juristische Staatsprüfung sowie das Begleitstudium 'Europäisches Recht' ab. Im Jahr 2021 erfolgte die Promotion mit einer Arbeit zum Umweltverfassungsrecht bei Prof. Dr. Ralf Brinktrine in Würzburg, wo er auch als Wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter tätig ist. Im Jahr 2022 legte er die zweite juristischen Staatsprüfung in Kassel ab.
