'The Basis of Consent in Criminal Law' The main purpose of this dissertation is to bridge the conventional theoretical gaps in explaining the institute of consent and to clarify the basis of the concept of consent and its limits. At the same time, the present work explains 1) the basis on which the criminal justice system must recognize the institute of consent and 2) which criminal theory shall be adopted, so that it can be compatible with the aforementioned basis. The legitimacy of § 216 StGB is discussed as an example.

I-Ning Liao studierte Rechtswissenschaft mit dem Nebenfach Chinesische Literatur an der National Taiwan University (Bachelor of Laws, 2004-2008; Master of Laws, 2008-2012, Titel der Masterarbeit: 'Die Problematik bei der Anwendung des § 225 TStGB [Sexueller Missbrauch widerstandsunfähiger Personen]: Zur Begründung des Selbstbestimmungsrechts von Geistigbehinderten'). Anschließend absolvierte sie ein durch den Deutschen Akademischen Austauschdienst gefördertes Promotionsstudium an der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg, das sie im November 2019 mit der Verleihung des Doktortitels abschloss.
